Academic Policy

Definition

To change the home major for students

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate (Class of 2017 and earlier): Current students who are in their 3rd to 5th semesters and wish to apply
  • Undergraduate (Class of 2018 and later): Those who have completed at least the second year of their program and wish to apply.
  • Master's/Doctoral Programs: Current students who are within their two semesters and wish to apply.
  • Integrated Programs: Current students who are within their four semesters and wish to apply.

Application Period

2 weeks before the start of each semester (refer to the academic calendar)

(e.g., the application period for transferring in the 1st semester of 2024 is from February 5, 2024, to February 16, 2024)

Transfer Procedure

After the 18th grade, students in the bachelor's course can selectively conduct counseling and professors' interviews with the person in charge of the existing department or the department wishing to change.

  • STEP 01

    Pre-consultation

    Conduct a pre-consultation with both the current and desired department.

    Apply for department transfer

    POVIS → Academic Affairs → Status Change/Academic Policy → Major Change

  • STEP 03

    Consult with the advisor and department head of the current department

    • Undergraduate (Class of 2017 and earlier)
    • Graduate
  • STEP 04

    Consult with the advisor and department head of the desired department.

  • STEP 05

    Approve Department Transfer

    The submitted application is approved via an online process

    • Undergraduate (Class of 2017 and earlier)
    • Undergraduate (Class of 2018 and later)

Additional Information

  • Any student wishing to transfer must take major courses in the desired department a semester in advance to see if it is befitting his or her aptitude and then submit an application for transfer.
  • If the student gets an approval for transfer, he or she must change the class of completion for the course already completed before transfer and will have to complete major courses specified by the transferred-to department.
