POSTECH Signature Conference 2023 came to a close on the 3rd, with over 300 attendees from around the world.

This annual conference serves as an international academic gathering that capitalizes on the collaborative networks among Korean and international universities, along with regional research centers, all maintaining affiliations and agreements with POSTECH. Each year, the conference aligns the research themes with prevailing global trends, thereby highlighting POSTECH’s distinctive research focus.

This year’s conference spotlighted quantum technology—a realm witnessing transformative strides in computing, communication, and sensor technologies. Esteemed researchers, scientists, and industry experts convened to share insights. Noteworthy were the lectures on fundamental quantum research and global collaboration, delivered by renowned scholars such as Professor Philip Kim from Harvard University, celebrated for his pioneering work in discovering graphene, hailed as the “dream new material.”

Jae-Hoon Park, Chair of the conference organizing committee and a Physics professor at POSTECH, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to provide a platform for sharing cutting-edge research and discoveries. I expect the conference will contribute significantly to the quantum technology advancement.”

The POSTECH Signature Conference, which commenced last year focusing on Futuristic Medical Science and Engineering, marked its second iteration this year. The 2023 event received sponsorship from the Ministry of Education, the Max Planck POSTECH/Korea Research Initiative (MPK), the Institute for Basic Science (IBC), and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP).
