Apple Developer Academy @ POSTECH, the only one of its kind in Korea, is now accepting applicants for its third cohort.

Individuals who are at least 19 years old with any academic background can apply. The application process is taking place in two batches, one in the first half of 2023 and the other in the second half, with 100 students selected through the same screening process. Reapplication is welcome. The first batch recruitment will take place from April 28 (Fri) to June 12 (Fri) 2023, while the second is scheduled to start in early August.

The 200 successful applicants will receive free training in coding expertise, design, app marketing, and business operations from March to December 2024. In December of last year, the academy produced 190 graduates from the first cohort, while the second cohort is currently completing the program and improving their professional skills.

According to Hyerin Kim, a student in the second cohort, “The Apple Developer Academy brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds to plan and develop products, and the ability to implement ideas through app development is particularly appealing.” She also expressed her ambition to “constantly challenge herself and grow while at the Academy.” Kim was previously selected as a next-generation creative entrepreneur at POSTECH’s Creative Entrepreneur Omphalos, served as a mentor at that center in 2021, and was selected as a mentee at the Apple Developer Academy in 2023.

The Apple Developer Academy @ POSTECH holds weekly online briefings (information session) for those who are unfamiliar with the academy or app development. Additionally, various events, including outreach briefings and participatory workshops, are planned. Since 2013, the Apple Developer Academy has established itself in over 17 regions worldwide, including Brazil, Indonesia, and Italy. The academy aims to provide education to aspiring entrepreneurs, developers, and designers, assisting them in obtaining jobs in the iOS app ecosystem. The Apple Developer Academy @ POSTECH launched more than 70 apps during its inaugural year and currently offers a second-year program for graduates interested in pursuing entrepreneurship out of the 190 alumni.
