[Blending 37 Years of Educational Expertise with Global Infrastructure: Full-English Curriculum, Tuition Waiver, and Tailored Academic Support]
POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) will begin admitting international undergraduate freshmen starting in the Fall 2026 semester, marking a major step forward in attracting outstanding global talent. Building on 37 years of excellence in science and engineering education and world-class research infrastructure, POSTECH is set to become a global education hub competing not just within Asia, but globally.
Two newly established admissions tracks will be available:
● International Admissions I: for applicants and their parents who both hold foreign (non-Korean) citizenship, provided that both the applicant and their parents held foreign citizenship prior to the applicant beginning an education equivalent to a Korean high school.
● International Admissions II: for students who have completed all 12 years of primary and secondary education entirely outside Korea (equivalent to Korean primary and secondary schooling).
Both tracks are offered outside the regular admissions quota, differing only in terms of nationality and educational background. Applicants will be selected through a comprehensive document-based evaluation, which will consider academic records, recommendation letters, and other supporting documents to assess both academic ability and potential.
Once admitted, international students will benefit from a 100% English-taught curriculum, the same tuition waiver as domestic students, and Korean language courses to support adjustment. Starting in the 2027 academic year, POSTECH will offer admissions twice a year, in both the Spring and Fall semesters, to better accommodate various international academic calendars.
Kang Bok Lee, Dean of Admissions at POSTECH, stated, “We aim to establish POSTECH as a university of choice for global talent, thereby enhancing our global competitiveness.”
An online information session about the new admissions tracks will be held on June 23. Prospective applicants can register in advance and view more information on POSTECH’s official website under the “Event Notice” section.
