The POSTECH-CATHOLIC Biomedical Engineering Institute is Korea's first joint research institute established between universities. It integrates POSTECH's cutting-edge research capabilities in life sciences and engineering with Catholic University of Korea's clinical expertise and know-how. The institute focuses on key areas of research and development, including immune modulation and therapeutics, bioactive modulators, advanced medical devices, and diagnostic and imaging technologies.

By fostering collaborative research, the institute aims to develop new drugs and advanced medical devices, generating economic value and contributing to the advancement of both universities. Additionally, it seeks to commercialize research outcomes, paving the way for new business opportunities.
