The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) is launching the Center for Quantum Materials at Extreme Conditions at the POSTECH campus, with the goal of realizing next-generation quantum materials with properties and functionalities beyond those achievable in conventional materials.
Led by Professor Jun Sung Kim of the Department of Physics at POSTECH, the new center aims to uncover the fundamental principles of quantum geometric effects and many-body phenomena in solids and translate this understanding into new strategies for materials design and device applications.
To achieve this goal, the center will precisely probe and control topological electronic structures and electron-electron interactions under multiple extreme conditions, including high magnetic fields, high pressures, and ultralow temperatures, while exploring new quantum states and transport phenomena.
